cocoabean: (xkcd → working)
[personal profile] cocoabean
Fandom: Legend of Korra
Characters/Pairings: Focus on Korra but Korra/Asami happens.
Rating & Warnings: PG for violence and implied violence
Notes: AU Canon divergence after Battle of Zaofu but with references to most of what happens in canon. I wrote this for [livejournal.com profile] heroinebigbang and my usual beta is a bit stressed what with her last week of classes so I don't want to overwhelm her. Posting date is for the 11th so kind of need this urgently.
jordannamorgan: Fai, "Tsubasa Chronicle: Princess of the Birdcage Kingdom". (Tsubasa Fai)
[personal profile] jordannamorgan
I would like to request the one-time service of a beta for a single one-shot, please.

Fandom: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle

Characters: Fai and Kurogane

Rating & Warnings: Genfic. If anything, mild PG for vampire-related content.

Notes: The fic is under three thousand words, set between the Tokyo Revelations and Infinity arcs. It's for a fic exchange... and it's also my first time writing in this fandom. Basically, I just want to make sure my interpretations of the (sometimes highly confounding) T:RC canon ring true. :)

Thank you to anyone who can help me out!
sixbeforelunch: Jim Kirk from Star Trek TOS, text reads "Boldly Go" (trek - boldly go)
[personal profile] sixbeforelunch
Fandom: Star Trek: Voyager

Characters/Pairings: Vorik, OFC, Vorik&/OFC

Rating & Warnings: Rated PG. No content warning apply.

Notes: Basically id-fic. This story exists because I always feel bad for Vorik at the end of Blood Fever, and also because the Star Trek convention of planets housing only one culture annoys me to no end. It's about culture and language and a little bit about Vorik getting a girlfriend. I'm looking for someone to point out typos and let me know if I'm completely embarrassing myself. (I haven't written fic in a long, long time.) Comment or PM if you're interested in taking a look.

Fandom: Supernatural

Characters/Pairings:
Sam, Dean, Crowley, gen, Sam/Crowley if you squint.

Rating & Warnings:  Minor blood/gore warning. Suited for ages 12 and up.

Notes:
I'm looking for SPAG
as well as US/brit-picking. I'm not a native English speaker so the nuances between US/UK English are completely lost to me. Punctuation is also not my friend.

Story is 1500 words and due Wednesday, so I know I'm cutting it close. Any help would be appreciated!

E-mail at k7johansson@gmail.com if you would be willing to do it.

Fandom: How to get away with murder
Characters/Pairings: Bonnie Winterbottom/Annalise Keating
Rating & Warnings: Explicit sex, dubcon, abuse of power, masochism and humiliation
Notes: It's a ~5000 word PWP with very explicit sex, so please be over 18

Hey there, I managed to finish my first English language fic today and I'm looking for a native English speaker to give it a look before I embarrass myself.

If you happen to be familiar with the show I'll gladly accept criticism on characterization and any concrit you might have is appreciated but since I'm ESL I'm mainly looking for feedback a la "That word doesn't mean what you think it means", "That word belongs at the end of the sentence" or even "I can't exactly tell why, but that sentence just sounds really weird to me."
inevitableentresol: (Louis lips from bffcomic)
[personal profile] inevitableentresol
Fandom: BFFcomic, although I'm just looking for an Ameripicker, you don't have to know anything about the comic.
Characters/Pairings: Louis/John
Rating & Warnings: PG-13, pretty tame slash, but there's one way flirting between unrelated stepbrothers if that bothers you.
Notes:

I wrote a short fic and already posted it here but I suspect there are are mistakes in my American English as I'm from the UK. Help me out anyone?

Thank you!
sashataakheru: (Default)
[personal profile] sashataakheru
Fandom: Electric Light Orchestra RPF
Characters/Pairings: Jeff Lynne/Roy Wood/Hugh McDowell; references original characters who don't appear in the actual fic
Rating & Warnings: FRM/contains angst, safe consensual kink (whipping, chain restraints), no sex
Notes: This is being written for [community profile] polybigbang, and I'm looking for someone to help me with plot, structure, and consistency, since I basically pulled this idea out of my arse some time last month for wont of a better idea.

It basically takes place in a basement, over the course of a few hours. I'm writing a D/D/s polykink relationship. Much of the story is about them finding their feet together, and trying to make it work, amidst all the mundane complications of life.

It's a sequel to another fic of mine, but I want it to stand alone as much as possible. My draft is currently sitting at 10.5k, and could possibly do with a better ending.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me out with this. I don't need you to know the fandom, just be willing to beta obscure RPF, and help get the plot into shape.
naatz: (Default)

Fandom: Red vs Blue
Characters/Pairings: Texas/Carolina (yes, I know).
Rating & Warnings: Mature (for themes). Some questionable personal body autonomy issues, identity confusion. Major spoilers for the ending of season 10 that affect the nature of the ship.
Length: 2.2k
Summary: Tex tries handling her emotions after getting CT's message.

Notes: I'm mainly in need of someone to take a look at the structure, flow and logic, as well as SPaG anc characterisation, but those are less of an issue.

You can find my previous writing on AO3.
annariel: Alex Kamal from The Expanse (Who:Eight)
[personal profile] annariel
Fandom: Doctor Who (novels)
Characters/Pairings: Steven, Dodo/James Stevens, 7th Doctor, Ace, Iris Wildthyme, Leela, Father Kreiner, Kadiatu Lethbridge-Stewart, Benny, Irving Braxiatel, Barbara
Rating & Warnings: U
Notes: Needed for 8th November
lea_hazel: Typewriter (Basic: Writing)
[personal profile] lea_hazel
Fandom: Dragon Age.
Characters/Pairings: Sebastian, Hawke/Sebastian.
Rating & Warnings: G, with canon character death.
Notes: This is a character piece that I'm not completely confident about. I'd really like a beta who's familiar with the canon and characters. I realize this is a shot in the dark, but what the hell. I am willing to do a beta trade if someone is interested.
sashataakheru: (Default)
[personal profile] sashataakheru
Fandom: The Move RPF AU
Characters/Pairings: It's a long plotty fic focussing on FtM!Ace Kefford and FtM!Bev Bevan, and their experiences growing up trans*, and finding their place in the world.
Rating & Warnings: Mature/Explicit; warnings include consensual underage sexual situations, childhood trauma and abuse, mental illness (depression, suicidal thoughts, paranoia, psychosis?), self-harming/self-injury, and body dysphoria. There may be others I haven't picked up along the way, but that's a good overview.
Notes: This is a rewrite of an old [community profile] queer_fest fic, The Girl Outside, without the ridiculous class differences and with better character development. It's been much better edited, and I've completely rewritten at least half of it from scratch.

I'm still working on finishing up the ending, but I'd still like to start getting the first chapters worked on, since I have a month to get this finished. At this stage, I'd mostly just appreciate having someone to look over it to let me know if it all makes sense plot-wise, whether the character development is consistent and plausible, and whether anything needs to be added or cut.

Canon/fandom knowledge isn't necessary, since it's an AU, and obscure fandoms are obscure and hard to find betas for.

If you'd like to help me out, or know someone who might, comment here, PM me, or shoot me an email at ibdjehuty AT gmail.com.

morgynleri: a togruta Jedi initiate (morien nemain)
[personal profile] morgynleri
Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Trilogy
Characters/Pairings: Focus is on OCs, but Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi feature prominently as well. No romantic pairings, though there is a brief reference to a sexual pairing OFC/OMC.
Rating & Warnings: PG, some violence but none of it graphic, frank discussion of sex/procreation
Notes:

Mostly, I'm looking for someone to look it over to make sure the pieces all work as snippets of life that allow a reader to get a picture of the characters as individuals, and how they work together. This story is meant to be more of a backstory piece for working on an AU retelling of The Phantom Menace (and probably the rest of the movies, but that will probably be a while), so it's not so much got a plot as a general direction from the youth of the main character to right before the events of Phantom Menace.
dragonifyoudare: (Default)
[personal profile] dragonifyoudare
Pen name: dragonifyoudare
Fandom:
MCU, particularly Avengers and Captain America
Rating & Warnings: R for past torture and brainwashing, possibly some not-quite smut
Spoilers/Timeline: Post-Avengers through post-Winter Soldier
Pairing: Natasha Romanov/Steve Rogers
Other Major Characters: Bucky Barnes, the Avengers in general but particularly Clint Barton, and Pepper Potts
Beta Type: Planning, character voice, flow
Harshness: I need to know what I'm doing wrong, so be as critical as necessary.

I'm looking for a beta for a kidfic with the focus solidly on the non-kid characters. Basically the premise is that thanks to Soviet experiments and a shady Russian fertility clinic, Natasha and Bucky are the genetic parents of a preteen girl, and between Avengers and CA:TWS Natasha "adopts" her to get her out of the Russian orphanage system and for emotional reasons that she doesn't quite understand (and that I'm still working out myself).

Although given the premise an original character is unavoidable, I want to focus on how this affects Natasha, who has no idea how to do this whole parenting thing, Steve, who starts a relationship with Natasha shortly after CA:TWS, and Bucky, who is in no shape to deal with anything, let alone a medical workup revealing that he's got a kid.

If you want to get a feel for my writing skills, there's a short prequel to this that is currently the only post on my journal. It's in a very different style than what I'm planning for the main fic, but I thought it might be relevant.

As I'm having the worst luck with betas, but really need one who can chew me out, if necessary and goes for flow as well as grammar, I though I ask again. the story is very long, very plot driven and really appreciate some serious criticism. You don't need to catch up on the 140k already posted, I've summaries and besides if something really doesn't make sense because of missing plot knowledge, I can always clear that up, and no harm done.

1. Pen NameBarbayat
2. FandomTeen Wolf
3. Rating of the storybetween T and M
4. Spoilers/Time Lineup to 3A
5. PairingPeter/Lydia
6. Beta Type Flow, Grammar, consistency etc
7. HarshnessBe very harsh, bring out the club - but if that's not your style I can roll with gentle, too.

Basically it's a labour of love, that will do so much better if I have someone tapping me on the fingers till I stopped making the worst mistakes. What can I say, these days things need a bit longer until they stick.

EDIT: Could still use someone for the bonus rounds (no word count limit, but probably no more than 2k), but there's also a shorter time frame from challenge to posting date. Otherwise the same as for the main challenge applies:

1. Pen NameBarbayat
2. FandomTeen Wolf
3. Rating of the storyit'll be porny
4. Spoilers/Time Lineup to 3A
5. Pairingmostly het, small chance of slash, too
6. Beta Type Mostly SPaG
7. HarshnessBe very harsh, bring out the club - but if that's not your style I can roll with gentle, too.

for [profile] mating_games I don't know the pairings yet, or what the stories will be about but there will be one story from 500-750 words every week and there are four left.

Rating & Warnings: Adult; explicit sex, canon-typical action scenes and violence, dubious consent and consent issues Religion happens.
Notes:This is the continuation of my Loopholes and Needle Eyes and is approximately 30ish pages. I'm looking for help making sure characters are on spec and that I've carried all my threads. I can take a critical beta, though I like it couched constructively.

PM for email.

Hi! I'd really appreciate help with this one (long) fic:

Fandom: Marvel Comics (especially the Hawkeye and the Captain Marvel comics)
Characters/Pairings: mostly focused on Clint Barton/Carol Danvers, Clint/Natasha, and Clint/Natasha/Bucky Barnes; also Kate Bishop, Barney Barton, and Lucky.
Rating & Warnings: Adult; explicit sex, canon-typical action scenes and violence, some edgeplay and BDSM.
Notes: This is the longest fic I've written in a while - it's at 30,000 words right now. I could really use some help making sure that it's coherent, interesting, and correctly spelled, haha. It's a Clint-centric supervillain AU, with a lot of poly and found family stuff. Although honestly, it’s mostly about shooting things with arrows and getting beat up.

Let me know if you think you can help in any way! I'd really really appreciate another set of eyes on this. Exhaustive canon knowledge is definitely not necessary - I'm more interested in whether this thing makes sense rather than whether you catch all my obscure references.

EDIT: Someone in my circle volunteered to go over the fic.

Fandom: Shingeki no Kyojin
Characters/Pairings: 104th Training Corps
Rating & Warnings: G, it's a really silly crack fic so it's probably OOC
Notes: Basically the fic is about how members of the training corps find Erwin hot, and them fangirling about how married life with him would be.

The fic is currently at 977 words, and just needs and ending before it's finished. This is probably going to turn into a series of very loosely-connected oneshots, so I might ask you to beta the other stuff as well, for consistency's sake.

I'm looking for someone who can check the SPAG and canon-compliance (however minor) for the fic.
lea_hazel: A frowning white theater mask (Feel: Sad Face :()

Fandom: Fairy tales/Beauty and the Beast.
Characters/Pairings: Nominally Beauty/Beast.
Rating & Warnings: T/PG-13, mental health themes.
Notes: I'm interested in stylistic and SPAG betaing, but what I mainly need to know is whether the underlying structure of the story is comprehensible, or if I twisted the fairy tale so much it's not recognizable at all. As well, this is a [community profile] trope_bingo fill, and I'd like the prompts to be taken into account.

Fandom: Stargate SG-1/MCU, can be read as pure MCU (Captain America) since the character that connects the story with SG-1 is an OC.
Characters/Pairings: Howard Stark/OMC
Rating & Warnings: rated R, takes place in 1951-52 and includes two OCs and some era-appropriate homophobia and misogyny. It’s mostly canon-compliant for both universes, and, therefore, the ending is not entirely happily-ever-after for the characters.
Word count: 8k so far, still a bit of a WIP
Beta type: grammar, punctuation, proper use of idioms and collocations, any other advice (on plot, style, documentary facts, anything else) is also welcome. I’m in need of some cheerleading, too, I’m a little stuck on a couple of scenes.
Notes: I have a whole series of SG-1/MCU crossover fics, this one is supposed to provide a backstory, but right now can stand alone.
This is one of my first long fics ever I especially need a beta this time. I’m going to need someone to beta the rest of the series, too, but writing it is going to take time, so right now I’m only looking for someone to read this one Howard-centric fic for me.

3. Rating of the story: PG-13. There's a brief mention of non-con fantasy and 9/11.
4. Word Count: circa 8k Words.
5. Spoilers/Time Line: 2013 Canon events
6. Pairing: character!Jon Stewart/character!Stephen Colbert

7. Beta Type: Spelling & Grammar, American-picking. I have a big problem with punctuation, so I need someone who really knows their grammar. I also need someone to check my dialogue and see if it really is how a US American would phrase things.

8. Harshness: Please, be as harsh as you like.
