Additionally there are Jewish OCs and I'm trying to meld the show's worldbuilding with Jewish sensibilities. (I'm Jewish and have access to support on this front.)

In order to finish (and I'm quick once I get writing!), I need to be able to (1) talk with someone about the story and what's going on with it and (2) share parts of the story as I write them and receive emotional feedback.

This work will be set in my There would be mercy in the world timeline, which is a fork-in-the-road AU positing that Jim didn't put on the damn ring and Angor Rot's soul didn't get destroyed and branching from there. (Drall lives!) This timeline presently has 52.8k words.

I'm still in the process of developing this work and I have a wonderful SP&G beta who'll come in once writing has happened (I'm pretty fast once I actually start writing!), so my primary need is someone in-fandom I can talk with, to get my process going. Fandom: NBC Hannibal-- specifically, "NBC Hannibal, but make it 330 BC." A historical AU with recognizable elements from the show that also strays pretty far afield.

Characters/Pairings: Hannibal/Will (Okay, technically Hannibal/Wel-- I had to do slightly rename him to give him a non-Anglo-Saxon background :P) Also contains a fair bit of Alexander the Great stuff, although I tried to keep it to a minimum because there's only room for so many characters who single-handedly breathe all the air in a room in one story. Ptolemy, Thais and Bagoas (not entirely canon-compliant with Mary Renault's version, but an obvious influence) have minor roles. Other Hannibal characters appear in more or less recognizable formats.

Rating & Warnings: I generally post my stories on AO3 with the "Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings" warning. This story I would describe as canon-typical everything for both NBC Hannibal and an ancient military milieu. Violence and cannibalism obviously play a more graphic role, and there are mentions of rape, slavery and underage sex in several contexts. There is explicit sex between the two main (male) characters.

Estimated Fic Length: ~130,000 words. I am currently nearing the end at 115k, and expect there to be three more chapters hopefully finished within a month or so.

Notes: I don't usually use a beta for my fanfiction, because my attitude is "my fic is for my own pleasure and what's important is that I like it." However, this is my first story of this length and complexity, I'm going to spend some time polishing it anyway, and there are some things that would be clearer to a second set of eyes. So if there is someone who likes the sounds of this and would actively want to spend some time with it, I would be looking for:

- Primarily, someone to check over general comprehensibility. Naturally my goal w/r/t historical setting is to provide enough detail to set the tone of time and place, without over-explaining but also always providing enough information that the text at least provides a suggestion of what to google if you want to know more. It's hard to evaluate that on my own. So feedback along the lines of "this paragraph feels like a lecture" or "I have no idea what this is supposed to mean" would be valuable.

- Someone to catch little threads of loose plot, character or theme; although the general arc has been set from the beginning, a lot of details changed during the writing, so I'm afraid there might be foreshadowing that ends up leading to nowhere, or a reference to something that happened earlier that didn't actually happen quite that way. I suspect this would be easier for someone else to notice than it would be for me.

- SPAG, awkward sentences, etc., though I'm planning on posting serially and reading over each chapter as it goes up so I'm not too worried about that.

- I don't necessarily need someone with knowledge of the historical setting, but if there's someone whose expertise is in that direction, I'd also be very happy just for your feedback on place/time/culture/language portrayals. (Specific history stuff: Hannibal is (duh) Carthaginian, and ended up in Alexander's army after the siege of Tyre; Wel is short for Weldjebauend, my best attempt at a Will-sounding name that is adjacent to some records of ancient Egyptian names, and he's coming from the oracle of Ammon-Re at Siwah. So although knowledge of ancient Greece is great and Greek sources obviously have to inform a lot of the story, neither of the main characters are Greek.)

- What I'm not looking for: suggestions about any major structural changes. I'm going to suddenly get very busy in September and I don't have the time or the inclination to make major changes.

As I said, I don't usually have a beta for my fic and I'm not 100% attached to having this one betaed, either-- it really depends on the person. If this sounds interesting, let me know how long you think you would need-- not having done this before, I am unsure how long it usually would take someone to get through a story of this length!

Hilbert has a reputation for being a fierce and ruthless tyrant, but Solange discovers in him more of a gentleman like the knights in fairy tales. Despite the rocky start to their relationship, they share the same desire to protect their now united subjects, which is hopefully enough for them to overcome their differences and fall in love. The story focuses on developing their relationship.

Notes: Familiarity with the source a plus, but not 100% required since my strongest concerns are not to do with canonicity nor characterization (although a second opinion on those would be good if I can get it). No SPAG check needed. I need to know: is the story actually entertaining or just long and dull; is there enough humor, and is the humor actually funny; did I avoid obviously running on adventure game "plot time" (plot events are not triggered until the player figures out the correct action); is the main threat OK; some style things about revealing mental state of non-POV characters; is one OC's mode of speech okay or did I merely succeed at othering them or possibly even coming off racist; is the ending okay or is it a lame ripoff even by Monkey Island standards.

*The assault is not sexual, but there’s definitely some troubling power implications (think Imperius curse from Harry Potter).

There is quite a lot of original world-building, if that would be an issue. It would be great if you knew the canon, as I’m making characterization decisions and I’d love some opinion on that, but it isn’t necessary.

Fandom: MCU, Captain America

Characters/Pairings: Steve Rogers/James "Bucky" Barnes, Ensemble Supporting Cast

Rating & Warnings: E/NC-17. There's an on-page rape in the final chapter, extremely dubious consent between the main pairing characters, a lot of violence and gore throughout the fic, and some accidental torture between friends. This is a dark!fic, and kind of skirts the line between "Fandom Typical Tags for Winter Soldier Related Trauma" and "Hydra Trash Party" (there's no sex trauma related to Bucky's time with Hydra, but there's a lot of dehumanization and physical/mental abuse). It's a "Winter Soldier mistakes Cap as his handler" fic. If you me know your specific or potential triggers/squicks, I can double-check.

Estimated Fic Length: ~16k-25k left, so all together the fic will probably be between 65k-80k words.

Notes: The first 51k is already posted up on AO3, and now I've got a mess on my hands. This is the first longfic I've ever gotten far enough on to start doing actual resolutions and it. . . uh, kinda shows? Originally there were supposed to be 30 chapters total, but I think I've whittled down the excess so there's only 5 chapters left, ranging from 900 - 6k words in length (because chapter consistency is for people who know what they're doing). Anyway, I need someone to hold my hand, pat my head, and steer me back on track when I start getting distracted by subplots and the shiny secondary characters. Also, because of how long it's been since I wrote some of these scenes, I need a second set of eyes to make sure it's all written in the same voice/style so that you can't tell which scenes were written this year and which have been sitting in a drawer since 2015.

The fic is Post-CA:TWS, but canon divergent from the ending on (so you don't need to have seen any of the later movies or shows in the MCU). I reference some comics stuff, but again, you don't need to actually have read Brubaker's run or anything; everything you need to know is in the narrative and I usually put an author's note for extra clarity (I also do this with all of Tony's pop culture references and whenever I go too hard on military jargon). Unfortunately, because I am struggling with making my resolutions not suck or come off as melodrama, you will need to be familiar with what has already happened in the fic and how things have been foreshadowed to see if that's paying off (though you won't need to beta previously posted chapters) (except for the one I am rewriting because Story Structure Is Hard™).

I really want to finish this fic by the end of the year, but I don't think I can without help.

You only need to skim the first 4k to get up to speed on the "plot" (though feel free to point out any typos), general feedback on the next 7k words (typos, confusing bits, grammatical errors), and then full beta on the last chunk (this is the bit that's still in flux so it's okay to suggest more sweeping re-writes). The final scene will involve the full sex-pretzel terror of trying to make clear who is doing what to whom and I'm seriously questioning why I promised the world an OT3 sex scene.

Looking for a beta who can: Looking for a beta who can help me with two chapters of enemies to lovers smut (specifically the smut scenes to see if they're well written enough/fit the rating I have). The two chapters in total are 15k, however they're not all smut so maybe cut it by half or so.
